Entry for July 17, 2008 ![]() Penny, Jack and Gabby modeling the Oregon Lavender Festival 08 teeshirts. The weekend was super. Great weather, good friends and loads of blooming lavender! We ended up with over 107 varieties of Lavender on our shelves and as many blooming in our garden. Tina and I made lavender wreaths, while Penny made wands. Mike was busy tending the shop with the help of Gabby on the cash box and credit card machine. She did an outstanding job! Gia was onhand to pass out lavender sugar cookie samples, and Jack turned into water boy. It truely was a family affair.
A good time was had by all! 2008-07-17 22:51:12 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
Entry for July 8, 2008 ![]() Here is a shot from the walnut tree of the reception site... the lavender was going off ! It is going to look pretty slick once the lavender bank has filled in more. The tent was 30x60, and pretty much took up the top field, with plenty of room towards the garden. I loved the small table set around the pond and walnut tree.
Look on the wedding/reception page for more photos. 2008-07-09 04:00:42 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
Entry for July 8, 2008 ![]() Its been a crazy few weeks. The plastic is on the greenhouse, however I probably should have waited a few days, and purchased the strapping. The wind has been pretty strong, and its sorta ripping the ends. I think we are okay, but eh. I was excited to get the plastic on before the wedding reception on the 6th. Its all good.
The reception went well. There was a nice breeze, which keep the bugs down. Nice weather, and it seemed everyone had a great time. Which is all that really matters. Mom and Dad took the week off to head to Buhl Idaho, and a quick stop in Burns, Oregon to see "Randolf the elf." 2008-07-09 03:56:59 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link

Man I tell you what! The greenhouse is coming along! Whoooohoo! I really need to take a moment and load up some photos. We finished framing most of the greenhouse in tonight. I still need to order the plastic - and frame the ends, but it looks like a real greenhouse.
Mom, Dad and I emptied 2 trailors of hazelnuts today - it completes the driveway and the area between the greenhouses, as well as "the grotto" The Grotto is the new space in the lavender dike. Its pretty cool. Its a sweet little vista that over looks the pond. Speaking of which, Jimmy found a metal lawn chair that use to belong to "Milkman and Mill" my neighbors growing up. Pretty darn cool if you ask me! I am beyond being stoked. The chair is actually a vintage metal rocker - red and black. We stripped some of the rust off tonight, and I will repaint it to the orginal color. Pretty cool day! 2008-06-25 06:00:54 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
Entry for June 21, 2008 ![]() What a great Saturday! I really like this shot of the heron that "Randolf the Elf" aka Dean gave my folks - its over looking the pond. The lavender is coming on strong. I cut some wheat, and made a couple of bundles to put together a wreath. I used Buena Vista, a somewhat whimsy lavender. By whimsy, I mean the lavender stalks aren't straight like Grosso, or Royal Velvet, rather sorta curvy and free. I think it will make a cool wreath, just have to decide if I want to use Salal or cut some Bay. Only time will tell.
I had a good Saturday at the Hillsboro Farmers Market, only one more week left. Then its the wedding and the next weekend, the Oregon Lavender Festival! Going to be a busy couple of weeks for sure. Well, off to water! Hope you got out and enjoyed your garden. 2008-06-22 03:31:02 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
